DYBL Player makes JrNBA National Team

by dorothy griggs posted 01/28/2008

Dekalb Youth Basketball League player Larenz Griggs was selected to the JrNBA National team.
Nikkira Brown, another player from the league was selected as a finalist for the team selection. Both 12 year olds wwere selected as region representatives of the Atlanta Hawks.

As a memeber of the JrNBA National team, Larenz will travel to the 2008 NBA All Star weekend to participate in a number of events including a JrNBA All Star game on February 15th. The National team will face the New Orleans All Star team.

A Committe that included the JrNBA/WNBA officials, representatives from Nike and Gatorade , and Basketball Hall of Famer and ABC/ESPN analyst Bill Walton, selected the National team. The committe analyzed all nominees based on individual videos of all nominees which featured them performing a variety of basketball skills, a question and answer session and a copy of their current report cards.

Dekalb Youth Basketball League would like to congratulate both players for their efforts on and off the court.

Volunteers needed: Small commitment, Big rewards!

by Dorothy Griggs posted 10/26/2007

It is only the volunteer hours from dedicated individuals that enable us to produce fun, exciting, well-organized events and leagues.

By helping with coaching, basketball drills, signups, and other small functions you can spend quality time with your child and help other children in our community enjoy the game of basketball.  Dekalb Youth Basketball League will also offer your child a discount to play with the league when you as a parent or guardian commit to volunteer a certain number of hours with the program.

You don’t have to be a basketball expert to help with DYBL. There is a place for you on our team.  Please contact Lamont Griggs 404-932-5996 or regarding your availability.  Or fill out the Volunteer form online.

Thank you for your support of DYBL!
